Soon as we landed at Caticlan Airport, I was quite worried because I didn’t know how to go to our hotel. Although I was told that someone was gonna pick us up at the airport, Kathleen, my contact at La Carmela was not responding to my text messages.

As we got out of the Airport, there were a couple of men standing right outside the arrival gate. One of the men was wearing a white polo shirt with a La Carmela de Boracay embroidered on his shirt. He was holding a white board with my family name, “ALEGRE” on it. I asked him: “La Carmela?” He politely acknowledged and asked for my family name. I responded with my family name and asked if I was traveling alone. I told him I was with my girlfriend. He let a to a van. I believe it was an old Hi-Ace.

And since there were no other clients on board our flight, George, our driver, decided to drive us to our boat to Boracay.

I thought that other passengers were waiting for us at the boat. To our surprise, we had the boat to ourselves.

Moreover, it was also a very quick boat ride. During the first time I went Bora, I remembered being dropped off the beach in one of the 3 boat stations. This time we were dropped off at a port. I later learned that it was Cagban Port. Locals told me that Cagban Port is now the enforced drop off / pick up point of the island. They said that this was to prevent accidents to people swimming at the beach (mostly at Station 2).

At the port was another van waiting for us. From the port, we rode a van. After 10 minutes…

I went to the front desk and checked in. It was about 11:00am We were welcomed us with a orange juice drink while they were preparing our room. Normally, the check in time is at 2:00pm. Fortunately, our room was already available.

Here’s a glimpse of Room 315…

We had a small balcony and we can see Dos Mestizos spanish cuisine restaurant…

Our room had…

  • two(2) queen size beds
  • towels
  • air-con
  • own toilet
  • own bathroom equipped with hot and cold water
  • ref
  • cable TV (Finally, TV!)

It wasn’t the best hotel room I’ve been in, but it was very decent and clean. NOT bad! I was happy with our room.
