Got this from Miggy of OdysseyLive.net…

Dear Readers,

I know that many of you are very angry at me and have accused me of all sorts of malicious intent and have said things like im only announcing this bad information so that odysseylive can generate hits and what not. The truth is, though i want the site to have its hits, my announcing that the Eraserheads concert is canceled was because for a moment it was indeed considered canceled. What happened was that Philip Morris has backed out from being the ones behind it. My information came from someone who works under Marlboro, so it was indeed considered Official Information. What is happening now is that another company has taken over the project and will be handling the show.

I offer my apologies to those who were offended by my post but i assure you that i only announced that info because in the end we all just wanted to know what the hell was going on! And that is exactly what was going on. Im just glad that the concert is going to push through and that were all going to have the chance to watch one of the greatest bands ever!!!

here’s a text raims sent me earlier this evening:

“dude, quote me on this: Philip Morris has pulled out of the show, but its pushing through with a different promoter. Aug 30. Tickets will be sold next week”.

Here’s a message that Raims posted on yahoogroups:

dear everybody

after much ado. the eraserheads concert is most definitely pushing
through.

philip morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. but
another company is taking over the production. the turn over started
yesterday and they have already started work on the site in the fort.
so you can check.

there are good news and bad news.

unfortunately its no longer free. all the long winded registration
procedures in the red nation site is now void.

the good news is that the age limit is now 12 years old (for safety
reasons)and tickets will be sold so you dont have to wait for
confirmation and what not.

the official announcement and ticketing details will come out in major
newspapers and on the radio on tuesday.

these are the only details i know for now so no need to email me. im
just the drummer.

btw. i just got home from the last rehearsal. the band is cooking. we
will see you all on the 30th.

F*#K THIS SH!T! Make up your minds! First you say that the concert is FREE! Now, you are going to sell tickets!? WTF!!! And Phillip Morris, if you want to sponsor or promote an event, stick with it! You got no balls!

The President has spoken. Haha! But I’ll have to agree. Phillip Morris got no balls!

when i first heard about this concert from a friend, i went on the internet immediately to check the specifics out. i too am one of those avid fans of the band that got super excited when i found out about the reunion concert. i love the eraserheads! i read some blogs saying that the concert will be free to those who will register on the marlboro website. as i went on to research on the event a little more, i found out that there are already people arguing about its authenticity. in short, this event that was spread by word-of-mouth (obviously by no less than marlboro/philip morris) and no other formal announcements were made about its specifics (even the venue was withheld until the last minute), caused so much hoopla on the internet. a dream come true to a sponsor that seeks to get attention from its target audience without having to advertise, since they can’t. then a few days ago we all found out that it is actually NOT a free concert. a big joke, if you ask me. after gaining momentum they announce that you actually have to pay for the concert. it is actually a small price to pay to see one of the greatest OPM bands come together after years of hiatus but all this manipulation, honestly, is just a bunch of crap!

i suggest that we all BOYCOTT MARLBORO, BOYCOTT THE CONCERT. if we allow this to go on, what will happen next? i love the eraserheads too but these big sponsors/advertisers are playing as puppet masters and making a mockery of the fans. they should learn to respect us. no more run-arounds. get the facts straight first before announcing it to the public. BOYCOTT THE CONCERT!!!!

i don’t believe that marlboro is totally out of the picture as the reports have mentioned. they got the publicity that they wanted. they will surely be present at the event in one way or another.
