Eraserheads Reunion Concert

Rumor has it that my four idols have finally agreed to play together on stage as ERASERHEADS. Yes! The four pillars of pinoy rock: Markus Adoro (Markus Highway); Buddy Zabala (The Dawn);  Raimund Marasigan (Sandwich and Pedicab); Ely Buendia (Pupil).

I was at Sa Guijo last night (alone) watching the Pinoy Soul Movement gig (featuring Sino Sikat?, Cosmic Love, Out of Body Special, Julianne), when Mr. X (not his real name) asked me if I have heard the news.   I asked him what news he was referring to. He replied "Pumayag na yung apat!" ("The four have agreed!").   I asked him which four. He said "E-heads!"

At first, I wouldn't believe it.  But knowing Mr. X is in the loop with the local music scene, I'd listen to what he says.  So I asked if I could blog about it.  He said you're already too late. A certain Mr. G (not his real name) has already blogged about it.   Unfortunately, I still couldn't find that blog.  I'm still searching for it. Will post it here in my blog soon as I found it.

Mr. X further mentioned that Mr. G would not blog about it if there was no truth behind it.  The organizer is currently negotiating with each of the four separately for their professional fees.  You can just imaging how much it cost to have them play again after almost a decade!  I'm betting at least one million (1M) pesos per e-head.  I told Mr. X that I'd bow to whoever that organizer who'll pull this off!

Would Ely and Raims get along on stage?  Mr. X says "If the price is right, wouldn't you get a long?" True. True.

Organizers targets to have The Eraserheads Reunion Concert this August 2008. Tentative venue would be at the Araneta Coliseum.  The Big Dome would be too small.

How much would you be willing to pay, to get frontrow seats in the Big Dome to watch the Eraserheads? One night only. No repeat performance.

    … August 30 is the date. You are right, the Araneta is not big enough for such a historic event, so it will be held in an open field within Metro Manila. Tickets will not be for sale, but will be available for free via download from the organizer’s website. The event is open only to only adults 18 years of age or older.

    they’ve been offered a million each, even more, in the past. and yet, they didn’t agree. contrary to popular belief, especially when it comes to what has happened since they disbanded, some things in life can’t be bought. assuming a reunion finally materializes, it is sure to involve big bucks, yes. but believe me, hindi yun yung deciding or convincing factor.

    ito lang ang naiisip ko ha…

    1) kung totoo nga na isang milyon ang ibinayad nila per band member, paano mababawi ng organizers ‘yung gastos nila kung magiging “free for download ang tickets”?

    2) sige, masyadong maliit nga ang araneta for (the rumored) 35,000 estimate, but for it to be an open field… well, i’m really hoping na sana hindi kasi i really would like it to be an intimate event… hindi naman exactly mosh-pit music ang eheads eh.

    3) hindi naman sa pagiging elitista, pero i really do hope that the organizers would come up with a decent place and/or ticket prize (if may bayad) para makapanood ‘yung mga hard-core fans without the hassle of watching the concert with people who want to exploit freebies (or as some people would term it, the “orcs”). I mean, ang pinunta naman talaga natin in the first place is to watch the band and their once-in-a-lifetime reunion kaya sana walang distractions.

    4) sana naman hindi lang dahil sa pera kaya sila pumayag. ayoko rin naman sana mangyari na tutugtog lang sila for the sake na tumugtog, wala ‘man lang kaamor-amor sa isa’t is or walang connection with the audience.

    wala lang… kaya ko lang nasabi ‘to is because if ever, i don’t want to remember the night as being one big hassle. nagpapakatotoo lang po. :)

    actually its more than a million… and hindi kailangan nung nagsponsor na mabawi ang pera nila kahit na free ang admission for 18 & above…

    ito ay dahil marami na silang pera… imagine bawal kang mag tri-media advertising, pero andaming bumibili ng produkto mo? saan napupunta mga kita nila? edi sa ganitong mga event…

    In July 5, 1969 Rolling Stones played a free concert in London’s Hyde Park, a few years ago U2 made a free concert in Dublin. Just a few days ago even if I don’t like him Bon Jovi played in Central Park NY. It’s all FREE! Alam niyo the best things in life is free…the music is for everyone to hear not just for all you condescending posers out there who pretend your better than anyone who is below the minimum wage..STFU! You guys want intimacy go watch a fooking “Concert at the park” in Luneta. Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon naiisip niyo pa na may bayad eventhough some are offering it to be free? Just enjoy if it happens man and believe it or not its all because of money so stop dreaming wuss:-) its a pop rock band for G’s sake man…..tsk tsk tsk Orcs ?So anu tayo Humans or High Elves hahaha you racist SOB !

    im sure marami rin mga pinoy artist ang manonood ng once in a lifetime event na ito..

    as an avid eheads fan way back 1993, were i wear red chuck taylor for PE, eh todo na ito! im having goosebumps everytime i read an article about the said reunion…
